Colorado is known to have some pretty unpredictable weather patterns. Here in the Pikes Peak region one day it’s beautifully sunny and the next it could be snowing. And while it’s recommended to pack for all types of weather conditions, often times vacation timelines are set ahead of time. The Avenue Hotel Bed and Breakfast is centrally located to so many of the attractions in our area. Many guests have asked us for our recommendations on fun things to do indoors, and we’ve compiled a list for everyone to enjoy. These are our seven recommendations; massage, museums, sites, and special landmarks worth visiting in Manitou Springs and the greater surrounding Pikes Peak area.
Schedule a Couples Massage, unwind and relax with a full body ultimate relaxation massage. 60 or 90 minute massages available on-site.
The Dinosaur Resource Center is a world-class museum in Woodland Park just 20 minutes away. With fossil skeletons on display and hands-on activities for kids, it’s a great place to spend a snowy afternoon.
Miramont Castle located in Manitou Springs is a fun place to travel back to the Victorian times. They provide group tours and also allow self-guided tours. If you plan ahead you can enjoy a High Tea with them in through beautifully traditional tearoom. Touring the castle takes 1-2 hours.
Space Foundation Discovery Center is the region’s first and only dedicated space, science, and technology center. This place is awesome! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Whether you have 30 minutes or several hours you can explore all the hands-on, educational exhibits they have to offer.
Michael Garman’s Magic Town is a 1/16 scale miniaturized city with dozens of handcrafted neighborhoods, alleyways, diners, and cityscapes all spanning over 3,000 square feet. It’s the fantastical nature of something you would see at Disney blended with the everyday realism of urban life. You can plan to spend a few hours at the museum. We recommend building in some time before or after to stroll the streets of Old Colorado City, where the shopping is prime and the food is delicious.
Glen Eyrie is a remarkable place to visit. Located near the Garden of the Gods, this historic landmark was home to Colorado Springs city founder, General William Jackson Palmer. Privately owned by The Navigators visitors should plan to make reservations for a castle tour. The castle is known for their, ‘Tea at The Castle’, offered daily and on weekends.
Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum is located in beautiful downtown Colorado Springs. Here you can learn about the region’s history and admire the artifacts from times past. Top your experience off with lunch downtown at one of the many quality eateries amidst the local retail shops.
