Manitou Incline

The Avenue Hotel Bed and Breakfast in Manitou Springs is just one mile from one of the most challenging trails for hikers and climbers, the Manitou Incline. With the base of the Incline starting at 6,530 ft. and the summit at 8,550 ft. that is a gain of elevation of 2,020 ft. in a distance of 1.02 mi. The average grade of the hike is 41 degrees with the steepest grade 64 degrees.

The Manitou Incline is a 1-mile track originally built in 1907 for a cable car. The route was closed in 1990 following a rock slide and the tram was disabled. It has recently become open to the public. This is a difficult hike, bring water and use caution.  There is about 2,000 railroad ties as steps not regular but spaced unevenly with rough terrain. However, upon returning to the B&B after said hike
