Fall in Colorado

A weekend getaway to enjoy fall colors in Colorado is just a drive away. Your destination Manitou Springs and the Avenue Hotel Bed and Breakfast.  A Scenic drive?  After a scrumptious breakfast stop into Spice of Life have them pack you a lunch to go and head up Old Stage Road  to the Gold Camp Rd on your way to Victor and Cripple Creek. This drive can offer fall foliage that is spectacular. Aspen scattered in among the pines and boulders. Scrub oak, rusty and spent fill the underbrush. The cool crisp fall air is inviting and welcomed after the long hot summer days.  The road is easy to travel, the colors brilliant ; stop along the way enjoy lunch. The pictures shown are of the drive over Gold Camp Rd to Cripple Creek  that Randy took last fall. This is a great day trip!
Victor and Cripple Creek are full of mining history . Molly Kathleen Mine tour is terrific tour to take. This is a tour of a hard rock gold mine. 1,000 into hard rock through tunnels dug out  by miners a hundred years ago. Of course, Cripple Creek is a gambling town so you can have some fun and try your luck while you are there. There is a museum and a narrow gauge train.

Travel back on Hwy 67 through Woodland Park back to Manitou Springs.
